ABOUT OUR COMPANY
Staunton Steam Laundry has been family owned and operated since 1912. Today, a 50,000 square foot facility houses three separate operations, in which state-of-the-art computerized systems are used to launder and dry clean large volumes of uniforms, linens, and more. Our trucks, brightly painted with the Staunton Steam Laundry logo, travel over 7,000 miles weekly throughout Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland to provide more than 1,500 customers with rental and cleaning of an array of textile products. Staunton Steam Laundry assures excellent service through personalized attention to detail. “We may have five work uniforms for a mechanic or five hundred coats for a poultry processor,” says one salesman, a twenty-five year Staunton Steam employee. “Whatever the size, each order gets the same attention. We want our customers to be very pleased with what they receive. People here take an interest in that. Our customers are loyal to us because we give them excellent value.” PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
GOING GREENThe majestic Blue Ridge Mountains overlooking Staunton remind us every day of the importance of respecting and preserving precious natural resources. Within the plant, we take all energy-saving measures possible, including the reclamation of heat, both from water leaving the plant and from boiler exhaust, to heat incoming water. We reuse over 70,000 wire hangers every month, recycle all cardboard that comes into the plant, and sell worn textiles to re-processors. The laundry chemicals we use are biodegradable, and lint is screened from our wastewater. We also work hard to avoid unnecessary waste and duplication. If a shirt is missing a button, we will sew another on. If a smock seam tears on the job, we will stitch it up again. Call us old-fashioned. We just think it is the right thing to do for our customers - and for the environment. Staunton Steam Laundry is a proud member of the Laundry Environmental Stewardship Program, committed to environmental stewardship.
